This issue of Faeries and Enchantment magazine couldn’t have been a bigger surprise……….one day I’m doing this awesome shoot I spent 9 months putting together….3 models…..some 60 plus hours of extension, color, hairpiece, updo prep…..Pixie is a pro of pros, and the shoot was fruitful to boot……..a couple months later Pixie lets me know that this awesome U.K magazine is featuring her and using a plethora of her photos in a spread along with an interview…..She sends the shots that interested them and primarily they are from the shoot we did… - I mean it’s her awesome photography, but I was a part of it! This made the whole fairies theme I chose and all the hard work and hours suddenly pay off 10 fold. Done originally just for my marketing purposes, This shoot marks my first published work….and in the U.K !
To describe the art donned by my 3 lovely friends who graciously gave their time to me for this project and went out on a limb to model ( ummm, no easy feat…don’t second guess….if you have never done it….MODELING IS HARD WORK!) Genevieve is my vampire….we started out thinking she may be a vampire fairy….then evolved into my dark little demon with fangs and no wings. She already has string wavy hair that falls fluidly past her shoulders, It’s so dark I would describe her natural color as off black. I tried a couple different color projects and ended up doing a full foil using black and bright winey red. I gave her a full head fill out of synth dreads, waved, in wine and dark tones…..I hand made a wiglet to fill the crown more and add extra color and dimension……headband, synthetic hair fiber….hours upon hours…then I wove it all together in an up do to get this completed look.
Kym is fairy Persephone. She is getting ready to leave earth for Hades and as the set of pictures depict…she is experiencing some much anticipated duress about the whole issue…..I mean she loves her sweet demon of Hell but will miss her earth family terribly…… As for her hair, which is naturally mid back length and has heavy copper tones naturally….I only needed enhance the color of her hair, I took her a little deeper into the auburn…I also added highlights of wine around the face….for extensions, I gave her a synth dread fill out, her dreads remained straight, and are pretty substantial in density. I used opulent golds, purple, and wine for her dread palette. I created a human hair fall set. To do this I attached tiny sections of human hair to lace using string. I secure these falls on two pony tails and then blended everything together with mad skills and hair pins so it looked like all this hair is on her head……and it was incredibly secure, I know because I had her pulling on it near the end of the shoot….held up remarkably!
Jenny is my rebel inspired fairy….camo …yet, class……..At the time she had about 4 inches of layered bob in an auburn shade…….notice the red head theme* I attached a full head of human hair extensions…She naturally has a mild wave to her hair, these extensions are quite curly in comparison…you still can’t tell the difference between her hair and the extension hair. I saturated all the hair with a rich auburn demi gloss to heighten the drama of her hue…..I shaped the 12 inch extensions into a stacked bob, below her ears, and I only needed to add about 12 hair pins to attach some green and copper synth dreads…just a light ornamentation was all this procedure needed to bring out its charm and elegance……errrr…..rebelliousness……take note* There are extensions from Jenny’s nape to her crown to her temples…her bangs are left lose, but she has a head full of extensions…and I ask you….Do you see them? They match perfectly and the attachments are tiny and camouflages intricately with small slices of her natural hair left lose between the attachments. This is the BEST way to achive height with extensions if a lions mane is what you’re after.
These girls are also talented ATS dancers actively performing in “Infusion Tribal” and “Red Tent Tribal”…so they already had mad make up and costuming skills…….What a boon that was! If you are ever want to have photos taken of yourself or loved ones….Try for Pixie! She sometimes travels….so watch for her to come your city……..Truly she is efficient , effective, and just talented….She and her camera will find your most fabulous “ness” and capture it!
