About the Project
For this project, the design brief called for style frames for an animated ad to launch their new limited edition playing card deck. We were given a voiceover script with open-ended art direction and criteria of a 60s retro feel. Instead of going the tired route of "flower child" 60s, I wanted to bring back a bold space age comic aesthetic of the same time period. It was great fun researching this subject matter and designing a storyboard with interesting transition ideas, harkening to Kubrick-inspired framing, symmetry and drama. From the storyboards, I created loose value and color studies, then on to the final style frames.
